Painting the city of Nagoya in beautiful autumn colors

The Nagoya Festival made its start in 1955 and helps to bring ever more color to Nagoya's autumn season. The festival's main spectacle, the Hometown Heroes Parade, where the three great warrior icons of Japan's Warring States period with ties to Aichi (Oda Nobunaga, Toyotomi Hideyoshi, and Tokugawa Ieyasu) march through the streets with an armor-clad warrior entourage is a major sight to see. In addition to the procession, parade floats dressed to the hilt in history and tradition and designated municipal cultural properties make an appearance together with sacred music and dances also designated as municipal cultural properties.

What's more, the Local Arts Festival—which brings together Nagoya's definitive intangible cultural properties and intangible folk cultural properties in one place—is held simultaneously with the Sister City Festival. A myriad of events at other venues too take place, and Nagoya tourism establishments such as Nagoya Castle and Higashiyama Zoo and Botanical Gardens open their doors for free.
As if this weren't enough, events with ties to the Taiga Drama Toyotomi Brothers! TV show to be aired in 2026 are also scheduled to take place.
Come and enjoy an all-the-more wondrous autumn Nagoya!
