Spaceship-Aqua's aquatic, green atmosphere
The Oasis21 shopping complex was born in Nagoya City's Sakae district in 2002. Its glass rooftop "Spaceship-Aqua" structure floating in the sky may at first glance look like the Starship Enterprise from Star Trek has landed in Nagoya's bustling Sakae area! However, this symbol of the city is equipped with a pond of beautiful rippling water and offers an incredible view of the cityscape. A nearly 200-meter long railing encircles the rooftop, giving you an idea of its massive size as if its position 14 meters in the sky weren't enough.
An ecological landscape making use of nature
The large rooftop and its pond are certainly a beauty to behold, but below too is an ecological environment which helps to mitigate the city's radiant heat. An artificial green roof reduces the heat island phenomenon produced by the urban environment while also utilizing rain and well water around the facility as part of its eco-friendly initiatives.
Enjoy yourself—From shopping to simply kicking back and relaxing
Below Spaceship-Aqua is the expansive Field of Green. A gentle-sloping lawn welcomes you to relax as you take in the beauty of trees which change their expressions each spring and autumn.
The base floor, Galaxy Platform, is ever expansive due to its open ceiling, making for the perfect spot for a variety of different events, shops, and restaurants.
Oasis21 is also home to a bus terminal servicing local Nagoya City, Meitetsu, and Sanko Buses as well as long-distance freeway Meitetsu and JR Tokai Buses. While you wait for your departure, why not see all that Oasis21 has to offer?
