Toei Festival
Date: Nov 3,2025(Mon)
The culmination of fun in the Toei area!
The Toei Festival acts as the opening event for and digest version of the area's Hana Festivals—national important intangible folk cultural properties. Japanese taiko drum group Shidara performs thundering shows, the Toei Market takes place, and many other events offer lots of fun in one location.
Don't miss the town of Toei's largest fall event!
So… Just what is a Hana Festival?
Hana Festivals are said to have begun around Aichi's eastern Okumikawa region during the Kamakura and Muromachi periods as religious rites conducted by hermit, ascetic monks in the mountains. The festivals last all night long with 40 dances performed to pray for harmony between man and the gods, bountiful harvests, and good health. Hana Festivals are designated national intangible folk cultural properties and have been observed for nearly 700 years by generations of residents in the Okumikawa region of which the town of Toei is part.
