The Yellow Fields of Atsumi Peninsula

From late January to mid-March, Aichi Prefectures’ picturesque Atsumi Peninsula becomes even more beautiful, as more than ten million Nanohana, field mustard, or rape blossoms appear, turning the entire peninsula a bright yellow!

Noted for its warmer climate, fascinating rock formations and fine beaches, the narrow strip of land 50km long and about 7km wide covers around 200 square kilometers, and as a forerunner to the arrival of spring, most of it seems to be masked in a bright yellow carpet of soft flowers. During that time, the Irago Nanohana Garden near Tahara city hosts the Atsumi Peninsula Nanohana Festival.

Work your way through a giant maze cut into the flowers, or enjoy picking Nanohana flowers. There are many Nanohana themed attractions, events and activities staged, and special menus prepared by the festival stalls and local restaurants too. Like most Japanese festivals, the sights, and the atmosphere is bright, as the Atsumi peninsula welcomes the coming of spring with bright yellow Nanohana blossom.
