Cape Irago
The cape's symbol: A romantic, chalk-white lighthouse
Welcome to Cape Irago at the tip of the Atsumi Peninsula, with incredible views of the Pacific Ocean, Ise Bay, and Mikawa Bay.
At the last point along the Atsumi Peninsula, located in southern Aichi Prefecture, is a chalk-white lighthouse and the posterchild of Cape Irago. While at the lighthouse, look upon Kamishima Island, the setting for famous author Yukio Mishima's novel The Sound of Waves.
A pathway is available from the lighthouse to a point from which to view the bright white structure as it stands against an expansive ocean scape in an awesome contrast. And once the sun goes down, the romantic mood turns up. The lighthouse's stunning silhouette is awe-inspiring and selected as one of Japan's Top 50 Lighthouses.
