Mt. Sanage
Holy mountain of the Western Mikawa area
Mt. Sanage boasts an elevation of 629 meters at its peak and has long been worshipped as a holy mountain in the Toyota and Seto areas. In line with its spiritual status, the mountain is home to three Shinto shrines making up the great Sanage Jinja Shrine: the main building at the base and the east and west halls further up the mountain.
The peak offers exhilarating views—even as far as Mt. Haku and Mt. Ontake in neighboring Gifu Prefecture—as well as other spectacles, such as large boulders like the Mifune Stone, a drum water wheel, and more.
Mt. Sanage is the perfect spot for beginners and families to enjoy an unforgettable hike through nature.
