Iwayado Park in Aichi Highland Quasi-National Park
A hidden-away estate of Seto City's natural world
Iwayado Park is an accumulation of natural wonders such as cherry blossoms, natural rock pools, fall leaves, the Seto Otaki Waterfall, and more changing throughout the four seasons. The name "Iwayado" itself means something like "Boulder Hall" and refers to a small, natural rock shrine in the park related to famed Buddhist monk Gyoki. The park is one of the top tourism destinations in the immediate area and lies on one of the Tokai Nature Trails. Climb up to the Mt. Iwasu observation deck for a view on sunny days stretching all the way to Nagoya Station, nearly 30 kilometers away.
A famed spot for fall leaves
During autumn, the Iwayado Maple Festival takes place in a serene ravine along the Torihara River. Walk through an arch of vividly colored autumn leaves with a light display at night at the shrine area and Gyomyogataki Waterfall. Bamboo lamps dot the walking path at various spots along the way for a truly dreamlike experience.
