A peak into Nishio City's past with the recreation of a wealthy castle town

Nishio Castle in the city of Nishio, located in southern Aichi along the Mikawa Bay, was once a formidable structure acting as the symbol of then, wealthy Nishio Province in the Edo period. However, the castle actually owes its beginnings to Saijo Castle, originally constructed during the Kamakura period by the Ashikaga clan.
Today's current Nishio City History Park is a recreation of part of that glorious history with the reconstructed main castle precinct's Ushitora Turret and second castle precinct's front Chujaku Gate. You'll also find the former residence of the great Konoe clan; a camellia garden; and gorgeous Kyoto-style Shokoso Garden.
Enjoy a cup of Nishio's famous matcha tea as you gaze over it all at the Former Konoe Residence.
