Kite Flying Festival "Tako-age Matsuri" (138 Tower Park)

Have a fun weekend making and flying kites at the 138 Tower Park in Ichinomiya-City! You may fly an already made one (free of charge) or take part in the workshop for crafting your own Japanese "Tako" kite (requires a small fee). Other activities such as attempting to lift daisy-chained kites, and Japanese "Taiko" drum performances will complete the fun!
The 138 Tower Park is also known by its official name: Kokuei Kiso Sansen Koen, literally "Kiso Three Rivers National Park." This majestic place is the largest urban park in Japan with an awesome 6,107 hectares (top of the Urban Park category as ranked by the Ministry of Land and Infrastructure - National Forest Reserves and National Forest Parks are not included). Additionally, the area encompassed by this park overlaps three prefectures: Aichi, Gifu, and Mie.
1-Japanese "Wadako" Workshop
Under the guidance of the Owari Ichinomiya Chapter of the Japan Kite Association, craft your own simple Japanese-style kite at this workshop.
Fee: 500 yen
Holding time:
(1) 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM (numbered tickets distributed from 9:30 AM)
(2) 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM (numbered tickets distributed from 10:30 AM)
Limited to the first 30 applications on a first-come, first-served basis.

2-Kite Flying Experience
Famous kite-makers from all over the country will fly their handmade creations. Guests will be able to take temporary control of the airborne kites.

3-Chained-Kites Lifting Challenge
Daisy-chained kites lifting trial presented by the Owari Ichinomiya Chapter of the Japan Kite Association.

4-Japanese "Taiko" Drum Performance
Performance by the Shikatsu Taiko Kottsu from Kitanagoya City.

5-Kite Exhibition
Exhibition of rare Japanese kites from all over the country in cooperation with the Owari Ichinomiya Chapter of the Japan Kite Association.

(February 16th until 3:00 PM)

- From Nagoya Station, take the Meitetsu Nagoya Main Line. Alight at Ichinomiya Station and take the Meitetsu Bus bound to "Ichinomiya Sogo Taikukan" for approx. 30 min. Alight at "138 Tower Park."
