Hana Festival (Kochi, Toei Town)
Date: Nov 29,2025(Sat) ~ Nov 30(Sun)
A Hana Festival held in the open air
The Hana Festival is a traditional and artistic festival which has continued for more than 700 years and is designated a national important intangible folk cultural property.
The Kochi Hana Festival takes place within a Shinto shrine's premises, and this expansive outdoor setting as well as Shinto ritualistic flowers are some of its highlights.
At dawn, a red, white, and blue demon break open a hornet nest strung from the ceiling of the dance area like a piñata with lances. Small pieces of metal, or "seed money", fall out and if you are able to slip some of the coins into your wallet, it is said you will have financial freedom for the year.
