Miya Festival
Date: Oct 18,2025(Sat)、Oct 19(Sun)
Sights you won't see every day
Referred to as one of the "strangest festivals in Japan", hoards of men use all their strength to pull gigantic, gorgeous parade floats between Yatsurugi Jinja Shrine and Wakamiya Jinja Shrine—an unusual custom. Most spectacular is on the second day, when they pull four visually stunning floats into the ocean off the shore of Miya Onsen Hot Springs. Each colossal float being pulled into the ocean against the water's force to the energetic shouts of 200 men is an awe-inspiring scene.
