Toyokawa Hagi Azalea Festival
Date: Apr 1,2026(Wed) ~ Apr 20(Mon)
A tunnel of gentle purple hues
The area from Fuji Jinja Shrine to Zenjuzenji Temple in Toyokawa City's town of Hagi is home to tens of thousands of azaleas, or more accurately, Rhododendron reticulatum. The flora meets its peak season in an explosion of color during spring when it paints the area in light purple blossoms.
From far away, you can see the color in all its spectacular area or, up close, walk through a tunnel of the flowers within the Fuji Jinja Shrine premises. During the Azalea Festival period, tsurushi bina strung decorations add to the beauty as vendors sell local specialties and a variety of different booths set up shop.
