Toei-Town Nokiyama School
Exciting, thrilling, and leisurely at the same time
Nokiyama School is a two-story school of wooden construction located among the mountainous town of Toei in the easternmost part of Aichi Prefecture. It is the former Toei Town Tobu Elementary School reborn after closing in 2010 with renovations subsequently done to create a space for interaction between locals as well as with people coming from outside and also serves to promote tourism in the area.
The establishment's official name is the Nokiyama School Toei Town Experience Exchange Center, and it is also home to such facilities as the Toei Town Library's Nokiyama Branch and Cafe Nokki.
Use Nokiyama School's auditorium, athletic grounds, and classrooms for its periodically held hands-on events and as a free spot to study. The main hands-on events, available by reservation, include Japanese taiko drumming and woodworking.
Nokiyama School is inspired by the nature, scenery, history, culture, craftsmanship, and people of Toei Town in the greater Okumikawa region and serves to connect all while aiming to retain its role as a school helping to spark the imaginations of those who come. The school continues to enliven the community and bring smiles to the faces of the Okumikawa region's residents as it has since it originally taught local students.
Come and feel the leisurely atmosphere of the surrounding, abundant nature while illuminating your mind with exciting encounters in a retro, wooden schoolhouse which has continued to live strong in the modern age while remaining true to yesteryear.
