Mokkulu Shinshiro Rest Stop
A wooden feat of engineering with alluring facilities
Mokkulu Shinshiro is a rest stop located near the intersection of the Shin-Tomei Expressway and crossing with National Route 151 in the city of Shinshiro. The name "Mokkulu"—or more traditionally spelled "Mokkuru"—comes from the blending of two words: "moku" ("tree") and "kuru" ("to come"), reflecting the establishment's creation by all the lumber brought in to build it. The wood used in its construction and loads of other materials locally procured would go on to welcome not the arrival of timber but weary travelers, rejuvenating their spirits with a warm and inviting atmosphere.
The rest stop's arched roof again utilizes lumber from the surrounding Okumikawa region, making for an unmistakable landmark for visitors to come and peruse all the local produce available.
Mokkulu Shinshiro Rest Stop also serves the region as a hub for tourism in Okumikawa, spreading the word about local allure to all who come.
Mokkulu Shinshiro Rest Stop uses the scrumptious soft boiled eggs produced in Shinshiro make for the perfect tamago-gake gohan, or rice with a cracked egg over it.
Cheese, sesame seeds, bits of fried tempura batter, and a host of other toppings as well as condiments let you stylize your own individual tamago-gake gohan!
