The Okazaki Castle Lord Ieyasu Summer Festival is a long-loved event by the citizens of Okazaki City. This year, the theme is "Celebrating Early August: Take the Lead in Singing the Ebisukui Dance and Okazaki's Folk Songs".
Participants and eventgoers can get a bit closer to local Lord Ieyasu—arguably the most famous shogun of Japan for his final unification of what once was dozens of warring factions—as they get a sense of Okazaki's passion and gratitude to their hero. Feel the festival's spirit at the many venues around the city.
Sat, Aug 9, 2025 at AEON Mall Okazaki: Celebrating Early August communal bon dance
The Gomangoku Dance, starting in 1975 as the main event of the Okazaki Tourism Festival, has evolved into a live, communal bon dance event. The Takechiyo, Okazaki, and Yareyare songs as well as the Ebisukui Lead and Miso Shikomi songs create a venue brimming with music and dance you'll only find in Okazaki.

The Gomangoku Portable Shrine which brings a little color to Okazaki's summers takes on a new role with new clothes as the Miso Roku Taiko Drum stage. The portable shrine was only carried by participating groups until now, but this year, any Okazaki resident can take part.
The thundering sounds of the taiko drum team up with Okazaki—the city of Lord Ieyasu—for a sizzling summer event.

The folksongs of Motojuku, Iwazu, and Fujikawa Towns come together in the land of Lord Ieyasu with each area's songs in one spot for a special bon dance. Generations and communities meet up for music and dances characteristic of the Okazaki area.
