Oagata Jinja Shrine Honen Festival
Oagata Jinja Shrine Honen Festival

Summoning spring in the Owari area

The Honen Festival prays for a bountiful cereal harvest, national security, and industrial growth. It is regarded as the festival which announces the onset of the spring season in the Owari area, and events are numerous: a parade by elaborately decorated parade floats and men of unlucky ages by Japanese superstition, taiko drum performances, mochi rice cake giveaways, and more.
Plum trees too come into bloom at the same time, making for some of the best flower viewing in the area.
