New Year's Owari Manzai Comedy Performance

Laughing in the New Year
Every year, three varieties of Owari Manzai comedy—Kadozuke Manzai, Sankyoku Manzai, and Goten Manzai—are performed at Owari Hachiman Jinja Shrine as an offering to the shrine on New Year's Day. Owari Manzai began in the Yawata, or Teramoto area, where the shrine is located, and was designated a national important intangible folk cultural property in 1996 as a traditional event of the greater Chita area.
The performances bring happiness to those visiting the shrine on New Year's Day and is an auspicious event to watch.
