Nagashino Battle Flag Festival
Date: May 5,2026(Tue)
Honoring fallen warriors of the Battle of Nagashino
The Battle of Nagashino was a historic battle during Japan's ancient Warring States period (circa 1467–1590) by prominent military forces of the time. Thousands of flags adorned with the crests of fighting warrior families are donated to the festival in commemoration of the valor displayed by both forces.
The festival is held every year on May 5 with matchlock gun brigades sporting samurai-style armor and helmets as they fire the ancient guns in addition to the thundering taiko drum performances of the Nagashino Jindaiko drum troupe.
