Okazaki Castle Ieyasu Summer Festival's 77th Fireworks Display
Date: Aug 2,2025(Sat)
Mikawa fireworks and traditional techniques
Okazaki's fireworks have their roots in the festival for Sugo Jinja Shrine and became widely known as a fireworks festival from the Edo period due to the rich atmosphere created by the boats from which they were launched. Nowadays, these fireworks coincide with the Okazaki Castle Ieyasu Summer Festival and sum up the most exciting aspects of Mikawa fireworks—so named for Okazaki's location in the Mikawa region—resulting in their status as a nationally recognized fireworks display. Systematic and simultaneous fireworks, fireworks which swim along the water like goldfish, and an incredible variety of other fireworks come together during this spectacular display.
An approximate hour-and-a-half program offers spectacular explosions as fireworks consecutively fly through the air from 7:00 pm to 8:30 pm. Their collaboration with Okazaki Castle is of particular scenic beauty! Don't miss these breathtaking performances.
Fireworks portraying imaginative pictures and words are set up beforehand to be shot off from wooden contraptions. This is where you truly see Okazaki—master of mechanized fireworks—at its best with fun designs which change every year.
