Toyokawa-City Rain Prayer Festival
Date: Aug 22,2026(Sat)、Aug 23(Sun)
Ooh, now I wish it would rain down
The Rain Prayer Festival is held annually at Miyaji Tenjinsha Shrine in the city of Toyokawa's Akasaka Town. The festival began when a drought occurred during the Edo period, and after praying for rain, residents are said to have experienced a downpour.
Enjoy watching elaborate parade floats and portable shrines as well as a parade with local young men dressing up in spectacular Kabuki costumes, such as warriors, prominent geisha figures, and beautiful young women.
