Toyokawa Summer Festival
Date: Jul 18,2025(Fri) ~ Jul 20(Sun)
Amazing tsunabi rope-led fireworks brighten the shrine grounds
This festival of Toyokawa Susano'o Jinja Shrine offers the fun of handheld tezutsu cannon fireworks, mechanized fireworks, parade floats, a portable shrine procession, sasa dancing, and other events. The over 400-year-old festival features an amazing ritual of tsunabi fireworks that, when lit, fire off more than 300 rounds one after another along two 100-meter-long ropes suspended over the path leading up to Toyokawa Susano'o Jinja Shrine. This spectacle has been appointed an intangible folk cultural property of Aichi Prefecture.
