Honkoji Temple Hydrangea Festival
Date: Jun 1,2026(Mon) ~ Jun 30(Tue)
A floral festival of color
Honkoji Temple Hydrangea Festival is a festival held in June at Honkoji Temple with nearly 10 thousand hydrangeas lining the path to the temple and areas all around the premises for a rejuvenating, relaxing experience.
The temple itself was built in 1523 as the Fukozu Matsudaira Clan's family temple and cemetery. It is well-known for its beautiful blossoms each season, with a reputation for its hydrangeas. In recent years, the temple has come to be known as the "Mikawa Hydrangea Temple"—Mikawa being the region where the temple makes its home.
Come see for yourself the botanical beauty of hydrangeas painting both sides of the pathway leading up to the temple for yourself this early summer season.
