Railroad technology from steam engines to superconducting maglev trains wow visitors of all ages

SCMAGLEV and Railway Park highlights the evolution of railroad technology with displays of actual railway cars from steam engines to superconducting maglev trains with a particular focus on the shinkansen, or bullet trains, running along the Tokaido Line. Exhibits number a whopping 39 cars with nostalgic steam locomotives as well as regular passenger, rapid, and other electric train cars.
You can also look over one of the largest train dioramas in Japan. The scenery around the Tokaido Shinkansen Line is recreated in stunning detail, making for an interesting experience for all ages—just keep an eye on your watch because with so much to see, it's easy to lose track of time.

Take the wheel on a drive at 500 km/hour?!

Of particular interest among visitors is the cutting-edge technology of superconducting maglev, or SCMAGLEV. Not only is an actual train car which holds an international record speed available to view but you can learn how it moves and hovers above the tracks in an easy-to-understand way. JR (Japan Railway) Tokai is the proud user of this tantalizing technology and allows you to experience it in this park, which it operates. Get behind the controls as you drive it in a simulation at 500 kilometers per hour! And there are other exciting experiences to be had as well.

Have lunch on a N700 bullet train

SCMAGLEV and Railway Park

It's one thing to gaze upon these beautiful train cars from the outside, but you absolutely have to check out the inside of those you can climb aboard. Children and adults alike are sure to love climbing in the cockpit with simulators available to all on a first-come, first-come basis for a small fee. This lets you experience the beloved trains at an even deeper level like nowhere else.
Learn about the railroad mechanisms and the story behind the shinkansen's birth at special areas along the way too. Plus, while you can't bring food or drink in, you can certainly enjoy a bento box lunch purchased in the SCMAGLEV and Railway Park inside an N700 bullet train on display outside.
And even the little tikes can have a terrific time with a kids' play space for children younger than elementary school ages and their parents.
