Owari Yokosuka Festival
Date: Sep 27,2025(Sat)、Sep 28(Sun)
Honor and prestige at stake, flawlessly controlling beautiful parade floats
This event is held on the fourth Sunday and preceding Saturday in September to coincide with a regular festival at Atago Jinja Shrine. Elaborately carved and embroidered parade floats spin around at street corners in the awe-inspiring act of donten. On the evening of the Main Festival, the Great Donten is performed as the Owari Yokosuka Festival's main spectacle.
After the Great Donten finishes, the parade floats are adorned with paper lanterns for a surreal nighttime experience to everyone's delight. The Hon-machi, Kita-machi, Entsu and Hachiko, and Daimon Floats are said to have been created at the end of the Edo period and all are tangible folk cultural properties of Tokai City.
