A festival wishing for a prosperous textiles industry
The city of Ichinomiya's textiles industry is said to have prospered thanks to the grace of the god of textiles. The Textile Thanksgiving Ichinomiya Tanabata Star Festival is held for four days from the Thursday before the last Sunday of July in relation the period's relation to the Altair constellation and Chinese myth of Zhinü and their ties to textiles. The festival offers much to see, such as the Clothing Dedication Parade, which offers wool fabrics to Masumida Jinja Shrine's auxiliary shrine Hatori Jinja Shrine.
A staple summer festival of Ichinomiya, lavishly offering thanks to the god of textiles
Japan's Tanabata Festival is also known as the Star Festival and Ichinomiya's Tanabata Star Festival is held to show gratitude to Yorozuhata Toyoakitsushi Hime no Mikoto, Hatori Jinja Shrine's god of textiles. It is also a time to pray for prosperity in this area, since textiles are the city of Ichinomiya's leading industry. Hatori Jinja Shrine is located to the east of Masumida Jinja Shrine’s Main Hall, from where Ichinomiya's name (literally meaning "Primary Shrine") originated, and Hatori Jinja Shrine's god of textiles is the mother of the god enshrined in Masumida Jinja Shrine, Ame no Hoakari no Mikoto.
Traditional streamer decorations fluttering in the shopping streets, a giant arch decoration, and a variety of other start festival directions around the venue are truly incredibly in their brilliance and draw in one million event goers to the festival. During the festival period, Masumida Jinja Shrine acts as the main host to the communal bon dance and hands-on citizen events.
Tanabata Stage
Musical performances, dancing, and programs take place on the seventh floor of i-Building.
