Historic Okehazama Battlefield Festival and Buddhist Lantern Festival
Date: May 17,2026(Sun)
Remembering the many who gave their lives to create the Japan we know today
The Battle of Okehazama took place in the city of Nagoya's Okehazama area between powerful generals Oda Nobunaga and Imagawa Yoshimoto during Japan's ancient Warring States period (circa 1467–1590). This event is a memorial festival for those who fell during the historic battle which changed the course of history in Japan.
Festivities include a memorial service; guided tours around historically significant spots; battle armor try-on experience; and once the sun goes down, a memorial service with some 3,500 candles lit around O Pond. The surreal scene draws in history fans and festival enthusiasts alike from far and wide.
