Retro brick tunnels among the lush greenery of spring

Take a stroll through the Aigi Railway tunnels, connecting Aichi Prefecture with neighboring Gifu Prefecture and normally unavailable to the public. The red-brick tunnels were opened in 1900 along the Shonai River valley and appear today just as they did back then. Enjoy the now abandoned tunnels' beauty in the spring with the vibrant greens of new Japanese maple leaves and other surrounding nature. The JNR Class C57 steam locomotive wheel you can move with bike pedals, Tarzan swing, and bouldering for the little ones are of particular interest!

Access by public transport

From Nagoya Station on the JR Chuo Line, get off at Jokoji Station and walk upstream 300 meters.

Note:
• Use a two-way ticket or electronic commuter passes as Jokoji Station is unmanned.
Access by car

There are no parking lots around the venue.
Come by train if possible.
