A historic temple framed by pristine plum blossoms

Around 400 plum trees blossom into beautiful spring hues all around Iwazu Temmangu Shrine's premises, including its Higashiyama Plum Garden, next to the Ni no Torii Gate and in the Jimbashi Plum Garden. The Higashiyama Plum Garden offers awe-inspiring walks around reproductions of renowned lanterns from around Japan commemorating and congratulating emperors' accessions to the thrown.

Plum trees donated from famous Temmangu Shrines around the country are available to view at the Higashiyama Plum Garden. The areas of Japan and those Temmangu Shrine names are available below:
Kyoto: Kitano Temmangu Shrine / Fukuoka: Dazaifu Temmangu Shrine / Tokyo: Yushima Temmangu Shrine and Kameido Tenjin Shrine / Osaka: Osaka Temmangu Shrine and Domyoji Temmangu Shrine / Kochi: Ushioe Temmangu Shrine / Yamaguchi: Hofu Temmangu Shrine
