Inabu Icefall
| Date : | Jan–Feb |
An icefall pours over the Yusui space
Once winter comes to the Inabu area in Toyota City, the local Yusui Park experiences an icefall down its slopes. Scaffolding is built up on the mountain face near Oidaira Park, over which water is poured every day in freezing temperatures to create this phenomenon, which changes day by day. The spectacle's beauty, a collaboration between man's ingenuity and natural properties, is awe-inspiring during the daytime, but as night approaches, it is lit up for a surreal scene as the icefall pops amid the night sky.
Notes:
• The condition of the icefall varies greatly by the weather. Calling the Inabu Tourism Association prior to visiting is recommended.
• Roads in the area freeze during winter, making for a dangerous drive. Be sure to change to winter tires when coming out to see the icefall.
• Held at a smaller scale in 2026, but with light display planned to take place. Photos shown are from past years.
