Stargazing at the highest point in Aichi Prefecture
Mt. Chausu Highland is Aichi Prefecture's highest mountain peak, making it a natural "planetarium" of sorts and a means to get even closer to the starry night sky for an uninterrupted view of the cosmos.
The Tenku Stargazing Society offers guides with an in-depth knowledge of the Mikawa area's stars accompanied by explanations (in Japanese) as well as observation through telescope and even the chance to lay on an expansive hill looking up at the glimmering night sky. From September to November, special guides are available to a limit of three groups at the Peak Observatory. The village of Toyone, where Mt. Chausu lies, is located at the highest point of Aichi and welcomes all to its lush natural landscape for an intimate encounter with the stars.
A cafe too is now open on stargazing event days for an even more enticing atmosphere!
