Grab your own sweetfish among the majestic Yahagi River
Odo Tourist Fishing Weir offers an expansive view of the gorgeous Yahagi River and its surrounding mountain terrain. Fishing weirs are bamboo ramps set up in the river like a sieve, acting as a filter with water passing through while sweetfish—soft-boned fish you can eat whole—remain for you to pick up with your own two hands. Odo Tourist Fishing Weir also offers a small pool sectioned off in the river for children to splash around in and a cafeteria with freshly barbecued sweetfish overlooking the awe-inspiring scenery.
And getting there is a cinch. The Toyota Oiden Bus's Asahi–Toyota Line gets you there with just one ride from Meitetsu Toyotashi Station, so you can knock back a couple beers or cocktails without a worry in the world.

- From Nagoya Station, get on the Higashiyama Subway Line and transfer to the Tsurumai Line at Fushimi Station bound for Toyotashi Station, getting off there (the last stop). From Toyotashi Station, ride the Toyota Oiden Bus for 70 min. and get off at Aidagashima Bus Stop and walk 5 min.
