42nd Arimatsu Shibori Tie-Dye Festival
Date: Jun 6,2026(Sat)、Jun 7(Sun)
A fantastic festival for an intimate look into Nagoya's historic art of dyeing
The Arimatsu townscape along the Tokaido Road is home to Arimatsu-Narumi Shibori tie-dyeing—a traditional craft passed down through the centuries since the Edo period. See that tradition come to life during the Arimatsu Shibori Tie-Dye Festival.
Arimatsu Shibori tie-dyed cloths and clothing, including thin summer yukata kimonos, are available for purchase and you can even experience dyeing yourself. Other tie-dyeing styles are available to try, drawing in loads of eventgoers each year.
