Five gorgeous floats in a parade with more than 200 years of history

Beautiful parade floats announce the arrival of summer at the beginning of each June during the Owari Nishi-Biwajima Festival. These five floats ornately decorated with lacquer and gold leaf proceed down a historic Mino Road packed with vendors, offering karakuri mechanized doll performances along the way. In the evening, candle-lit lanterns adorn the floats for a new spectacle and beauty different than that during the daytime.
Plus, on Friday night, the earliest fireworks festival in Aichi Prefecture offers another kind of breathtaking energy to the already spellbinding festival.
This year, from 10:00 am on Sunday, June 7, a festival ceremony takes place at the Ikoi no Hiroba Plaza with a sake barrel opening and traditional Japanese folk songs.
