Chita-City Chita City Museum Girls’ Day Hina Doll Festival Exhibition

Date : 01/18/2025 - 03/09/2025

An elaborate display of royalty

March 3 is the Hina Doll Festival in Japan. This traditional celebration prays for the healthy upbringing of girls by decorating the house with "hina"—or "princess"—dolls.
A variety of dolls—such as the Edo period's style of decorating with emperor and empress dolls only or the Showa period's style of setting out an entire royal court—set the tone for the festival. Most of these dolls were actually used to decorate homes in the local Chita area.
