Irises straight out of the Man'yoshu

Man'yo Park is full of the bush clovers often mentioned in the Man'yoshu, or Man'yo Compilation of Poems—an ancient compilation of classical waka poems—which led to the naming of the park. Six stone monuments and 45 signs with poems inscribed on them dot the park, allowing you to ponder the beauty of the discrete haiku style of poetry as you walk through the premises.
The Japanese Iris Festival is held in June when some 1,700 Japanese irises of 38 varieties in the park's Takamatsu Garden come into bloom together with other festivities.
