Kaore Plum Blossom Festival
Date: Feb 21,2026(Sat) ~ Mar 15(Sun)
Okumikawa area's Heaven on Earth
Every year the plum tree groves in the Kaore area of Shinshiro City reach full bloom from the end of February to early March.
Eleven farming families grow around 1,500 plum trees of seven different varieties, including the famous Nanko type. Scattered farmhouses are surrounded by plum trees and blossoms in full bloom along the mountain slopes—the scene is truly like a modern-day paradise. In mid-February, a farmers' market selling produce is set up as the Plum Blossom Festival is held.
