Blue Sun Beach, Shinmaiko Marine Park
A manmade beach beloved even by sea turtles
Marine leisure spot Blue Sun Beach in Shinmaiko Marine Park was opened in 1997 and is the closest manmade beach to the metropolis of Nagoya. Two enormous white wind turbines soar up into the sky above the beach, acting as its symbols and landmarks.
The sandy beach, popular with both families and younger people and created with sand carried from Ikinoshima Island in Nagasaki Prefecture, stretches nearly 400 meters and opens its arms to beach goers from mid-June to late September. The area is equipped with a shopping spot and free rest area allowing visitors to simply kick back and relax. In fact, in 2002, sea turtles were seen spawning on the beach, revealing that even they are fans. A sea turtle monument now stands in the beach area.
Not only does this beach offer incredible maritime fun but various events such as large handheld cannon fireworks displays as well as a lawn, Seaview Hill, family sports yard, children's sports yard, and picnic plaza for fun year-round.
Dog run
Blue Sun Beach's dog run overlooks Shinmaiko's ocean and comprises of two spaces: one for large dogs at 1,030 m2 and one for smaller dogs at approximately 270 m2.
