Seto-City Jokoji Temple and Jokoji Park
An old temple harboring the beauty of four seasons
Jokoji Temple is famous for its cherry blossoms and autumn leaves. The temple became known in the Aichi Prefecture's western Owari region for protection against evil in your home, gathering worshippers with the saying "Pay a visit and misfortune vanishes at once with good luck taking its place."
The Muiden Main Hall was built in the latter half of the Muromachi period (1336–1573) and served as the mausoleum of Tokugawa Yoshinao, former feudal lord of the former Owari Province, and is designated a national cultural property.
Located in the lush nature of a section in Aichi Highland Quasi-National Park, the area around Shoden Pond and its Rokkakudo hexagonal hall make for a stunning scene as Somei Yoshino cherry trees bloom in spring. In summer, you can camp and enjoy watching fireflies, while in fall, you can enjoy the beauty of fiery red autumn leaves from the observation deck high on the western side of the shrine precincts.
