The most grand festival of one of Japan's most grand shrines

The Atsuta Festival—also known as the "Shobu Festival"—is the largest, most important festival of Atsuta Jingu Shrine, with an imperial envoy sent by the emperor to participate in the religious rituals. The festival acts as an announcement of summer to the citizens of Nagoya and the stage for religious Shinto rites. Martial arts and other artistic performances not normally seen are also held as a gift to the shrine.
In the evening, 1,000 fireworks are launched into the sky from Jingu Park.
