A complex themed around Owari Shippo

Shippo ware, or Shippo-yaki in Japanese and "cloisonne" in English, is made with a colorful glass glaze fired onto a metal vessel surface. Shippo ware actually existed Before the Common Era, but after Tsunekichi Kaji rediscovered the art in 1833, it made a resurgence with the Owari region of western Aichi as its production base. And Shippo Art Village came about to tell all the allure of what is known as "Owari Shippo".
Look over pieces, see how they are made, and even try making an item yourself. Examine Owari Shippo from all angles at this exclusive Shippo ware establishment.

See Shippo ware's traditional techniques up close and personal

Gazing upon Shippo ware, you'll find yourself asking just how in the heck it's made. You can see for yourself in the Active Exhibition Zone as pros work on gorgeous pieces before your very eyes. The history and tradition continuing from around 190 years ago is truly awe-inspiring.
