Soaking in the beauty of a hot spring nestled in a quiet river valley

Japanese-style inns line the Itajiki River as it runs through Horaikyo Ravine, weaving the tapestry of a breathtaking scene of the Yuya Hot Spring Town—a perfect harmony between civilization and nature. The hot spring was found long ago during the Nara period, enjoying a history of more than 1,300 years.
Japanese inns and hotels allow a long, comfortable stay in the valley, though you can definitely make a daytrip of it. Not in the mood for a full-body soak? Then take advantage of the foot bath, free of charge. There's even a hot spring stand on the street corner, letting you pour the rejuvenating waters into a container to take home with you.
