A lion dance atop a narrow 12-meter-high stage

The city of Toyoake has a deep-rooted harvest festival with nearly 400 years of history: the Owaki Lion Ladder Festival.
This festival is an unusual one with two young men dressed up in an imaginary Chinese lion costume and ascending their way to a 12-meter-high stage made of a few bamboo poles where they perform an amazingly coordinated dance. Plus, the death-defying act of standing atop a single 9-meter vertical pole of bamboo is just one more cherry on top to make your palms sweat even more.
