Designated an intangible folk
cultural property by Aichi Prefecture

The Asakura Lion Ladder Festival is a religious ceremony of Musan Jinja Shrine where two men dressed up as a traditional, mythical lion climb 31 ladder rungs to perform a death-defying dance atop a simple bamboo stage nine meters in the air. Spectators hold their breath as the lion performs acrobatic stunts like summersaults for 30 minutes in this suspenseful and heart-pounding display!
